Hi! I’m Megan. Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
What you should know about working with me:
The first thing I want you to know, is that I prioritize and value people feeling safe, respected and cared for in my presence. When you enter the therapy room, I’m seeing you as a human being full of many stories and experiences that have shaped you into who you are.
I don’t want therapy to feel rigid or robotic - because of that I’m going to show up as a fellow human being (not a silent observer). Together we’ll get curious about your life/relationship and the goals you have for yourself. I’m going to hold what you share with me with compassion and empathy, and we’re probably also going to laugh because humor is important for healing!
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, my training is in systemic relational therapy. What this means is that I’m going to consider the whole of who you are. Rather than just being laser focused on “the problem”, we’ll examine everything that makes you, you. This may include understanding what you’ve learned to believe about yourself and your relationships through the lens of your family of origin, your cultural identity, your friendships, and the systems you have been or are currently a part of.
Each therapy session is tailored to you and what you need. I want to meet you where you’re at each and every session.
My hope for you is that therapy is a space where you can show up as your most genuine, authentic self. I hope this is a space where you can say the things that are hard to say out loud, and learn to give yourself heaps of compassion in the process. If you’re interested in learning more or are ready to jump in, reach out and we can set up a time to chat. In my practice I welcome clients of all races, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, and faiths.
A little more about me:
From an early age I knew that I wanted to have a career that was centered around people. I’ve always loved connecting with others and supporting people through difficult times in their life. My aspirations to become a therapist was solidified after my own experiences in individual, group and couples therapy. I understood the benefit of having dedicated time to work on myself and my relationships. Through my own experiences, I strongly believe that healing and change can occur in the therapy setting and I love being able to offer that hope to my clients.
Outside of being a therapist, I love spending time with friends and family, getting outside in all sorts of capacities, cooking from cookbooks, playing cards with my partner, escaping to the mountains or the PNW, and listening to educational or mindless podcasts. I have an infant son, and a spunky cat - both whom bring me immense joy!
